Advocacy will also focus strongly on preventing frauds, scams, and financial exploitation of older adults, including strengthening federal oversight of banks and investment providers, enhancing enforcement against digital and telephone scams targeting seniors, improving federal cybersecurity and consumer-protection frameworks, and ensuring that federal agencies (RCMP, CRA, CRTC, FINTRAC, and OSFI) coordinate effectively to protect vulnerable older Canadians from financial harm. CARP’s work will promote greater accountability across federal institutions and regulators, while advancing reforms that recognize seniors as a diverse population who face intersecting barriers. Activities aim to build a culture of respect, representation, safety, and social inclusion for older adults across all federal systems.
