Denturists face significant educational costs while serving communities with documented oral health access gaps, particularly in rural, remote, and underserved regions. Including denturists in the Government of Canada’s Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program for health professionals would recognize their essential role in delivering prosthetic oral health care and help incentivize practice in high-need communities. Loan forgiveness is already extended to other oral health professionals such as dental hygienists and dentists. Extending eligibility to denturists would promote workforce sustainability, support recruitment and retention in underserved areas, and directly advance the government’s objective of strengthening equitable oral health care delivery nationwide.
