  • This project builds upon the foundational work initiated by the First Nations Police Governance Council to advance First Nations police governance. The primary objective of this initiative is to host an annual First Nations Police Governance Conference designed specifically for First Nations police governance boards and related stakeholders. The conference will feature guest speakers, interactive workshops, and networking sessions tailored to the unique needs and priorities of First Nations communities. Through this initiative, the organization will maintain a comprehensive approach to examining and engaging with First Nations police governance boards to identify governance gaps and challenges. In doing so, it will provide targeted support to assist First Nations Police Boards in developing culturally relevant and effective strategies to address these issues, ensuring governance practices reflect and respect First Nations perspectives and priorities.
