Consultant lobbyists

  • Bailey Stafford Former public office holder

Formerly Special Project Assistant, Office of William Amos, Member of Parliament, House of Commons (2020–2020)

Institutions they may lobby: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Finance Canada (FIN), House of Commons, Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Privy Council Office (PCO)

What they're lobbying on (1)
  • The coalition is actively looking to have conversations to discuss their proposal for a constructive modernization of Canada’s wheat breeding ecosystem. The Coalition proposes a new farmer-led, not-for-profit Plant Breeding Agency for Western Canadian wheat and barley. The agency would focus only on Stages 3 and 4 of the Plant Genetics Improvement Continuum: developing promising plant material into field-ready varieties, then testing and preparing those varieties for registration and commercial release. Funding would include the re-allocation and extension of current AAFC core breeding agreements and be transitioned to the new Agency as transitional funding as it is stood up. The objective is to close the gap that currently exists in the part of the system that turns research into field-ready varieties.
