Institutions they may lobby: Health Canada (HC)

What they're lobbying on (3)
  • Economic and Small-Business Impacts of Health Product Regulation Advocacy concerning the economic and administrative effects of federal health-product legislation, regulations, fees, policies and compliance programs on traditional medicine practitioners, natural health product businesses, importers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and other small and medium-sized enterprises. The undertaking includes cost-recovery fees, licensing expenses, compliance costs, regulatory duplication, implementation timelines, service standards, consultation processes, regulatory impact analysis, transitional measures and potential exemptions, reductions or accommodations for small businesses. The client advocates for transparent consultation, proportionate fees, reasonable implementation periods and regulatory measures that preserve public health protections while supporting the viability and competitiveness of Canadian small businesses.
  • Import and Export of Herbal Medicines and Traditional Medicine Products Advocacy concerning federal legislation, regulations, policies and administrative procedures affecting the importation, exportation and cross-border movement of medicinal herbs, herbal ingredients, natural health products, traditional medicines and related products. The undertaking includes import permits, admissibility requirements, customs classification, border inspections, detention and release of shipments, documentation, tariffs and fees, ingredient restrictions, plant and animal health requirements, supply-chain issues, recognition of foreign standards and certificates, and coordination among federal departments and agencies. The client advocates for clear, consistent, timely and risk-based import and export requirements that protect public health while supporting lawful trade and reliable access to traditional herbal medicines and ingredients.
  • Natural Health Product Regulation in Canada: Cost Recovery We are lobbying against the implementation of cost recovery fees under Health Canada’s proposed Natural Health Product Cost Recovery Program. These proposed fees would impose significant financial burdens on small businesses and importers in the NHP sector. We are advocating for an exemption or reduced fees for small and medium enterprises, a transparent consultation process, and a reassessment of the economic impact on the natural health product industry.
