What they're lobbying on (7)
  • Seek to maintain Canada’s current position on agriculture and supply management
  • Government not grant any additional access to our Canadian dairy market in any future free trade agreement and protect Canadian sovereignty in future trade deals.
  • Discussions regarding government support for clean-tech. As government becomes involved in discussions around climate change, they advocate for programs and incentives that help farmers continue adopting innovations to meet our environmental targets.
  • Discussions regarding Canada’s Standards of Identity for Dairy Products. We ask that parliamentarians commit to protecting the current Standards of Identity for Dairy Products, which limit the use of dairy terminology and imagery to animal agriculture. In addition, we ask that these regulations continue to be enforced.
  • Discussions regarding a request for financial support from the federal and provincial governments to bring new processing capacity to life in Ontario. The funding would be used in partnership with the dairy industry to help build a new processing facility in Ontario and modernize aging infrastructure.
  • Discussions regarding a request for federal funding to establish and maintain a Canadian vaccine bank for Foot-and-Mouth Disease. The funding will be used to establish the vaccine bank.
  • Ask government to ensure that both the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) have the resources and training programs they need to adequately enforce dairy regulations and production standards.
