TIAO has prepared a pre-budget submission to the Ministry of Finance to support recommendations submitted by Tourism Industry Association of Canada, as well as to make recommendations on behalf of Tourism Industry Association of Ontario. We are meeting with MPs and departmental contacts to discuss recommendations, including: (1) Strengthening the tourism workforce, (2) Market Development, (3) Infrastructure and Sustainability, and (4) Maximizing Impact. As part of Market Development and following our prebudget submission, we are advocating for the renewal and continued federal funding of the International Convention Attraction Fund, including a request for a commitment of $10 million annually over four years.
Ontario Tourism Strategy 2025-2030 - This new strategic plan aims to: increase visitation and spending, facilitate product development and investment, expand transportation infrastructure, strengthen workforce resilience, advance practical sustainability, and to foster collaboration and leadership. Advocacy will be aimed at raising awareness of these sectoral priorities and advancing recommendations that support these strategic objectives.
In support of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, we are meeting with MPs in support of the tourism industry to navigate through post COVID-19 recovery, including removing obstacles to travel, tackling debt and the labour crisis
