An Act respecting the prohibition of the importation of goods produced by forced labour
Short title: Ban on Importing Goods Made with Forced Labour Act
Sponsor:
Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Oakville East)
Proposed changes
This enactment, among other things, (a) provides that goods produced by forced labour are prohibited from importation; (b) authorizes the Minister of Foreign Affairs to establish a list of goods in respect of which there are reasonable grounds to suspect that they are produced by forced labour; and (c) provides that a person importing goods on the list must, at the request of a customs officer, provide the Canada Border Services Agency with the required information, failing which the goods are deemed to be prohibited from importation. It also makes consequential amendments to the Customs Tariff .
